District Governor Alan Bethel joined the Roswell Lions Club in 1998. He served as President of the Roswell Lions Club in 2005-2006 and as District 18A Zone Chair in 2007-2008. Alan served on the Lions Camp for the Blind Committee in 2007-2008 as Finance Chair. He served as Second Vice District Governor of District 18A in 2009-2010 and as First Vice District Governor of District 18A for the year 2010-2011.
Alan was an instructor on Zone Chairs at Lions University in 2008. He received a District Governor Award for micro enterprise mission trips to Kenya in 2007 and 2008. He was recognized by his Club as a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2007. He received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation in 2009-2010 and the International Leadership Medal in 2010-2011. Alan is a Certified Guiding Lion.
He is currently serving as the Certified Guiding Lion for a newly Chartered Douglas County Lions Club in Douglasville with 38 members. He has attended two International Conventions and three USA/Canada Leadership forums. He is the receiver of the Golden Chain award.
He is married to Lion Carole Leedy Bethel and they have three children and six grandchildren.
