The Roswell Lion Club’s Thirteenth Reverse Raffle will be held on Saturday, April 30th at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center Grand Ballroom in Roswell to benefit our community outreach “Eyesight Roswell”. “Eyesight Roswell” funds eyeglasses and eye exams for the needy in the immediate Roswell area. Every dollar we earn goes to our charity project.
“Eyesight Roswell” was started in 2004 by our club when we became aware of the need in our community. Initially, we provided eye exams and eyeglasses for Roswell school children without financial means.
Extended over the years, “Eyesight Roswell” program also currently includes The Drake House (temporary housing for mothers and children), North Fulton Community Charities, Senior Services of North Fulton, Roswell Nursing & Rehabilitation and Homestretch, a division of Housing Initiatives of North Fulton (a temporary housing facility in Roswell for mostly single parents and children).
In addition, we have provided hearing aids to those in need, through partnership with the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation. In 2008, we assisted in providing a special hearing aid to a 5th grader. In 2012 we provided an IPad as an essential learning tool for a legally blind high school student.
Since our inception, we have spent in excess of $92,000 providing assistance to more than 11,500 persons. During 2015 alone – in addition to the students we helped, we assisted more than 97 persons in our community who were in need of eye care.
We are making a difference in our community with “Eyesight Roswell” and thanks to our sponsors, supporters, friends and members for supporting the Reverse Raffle.
